Popped up
by the jolt
of the leg
of the oak chair,
the loose floorboard
snagged my shoe
and sent my bowl
soaring,
each Cheerio
swirling
milk blotches
onto ceiling,
walls, and
floor.
Hammer and nails
before fresh paint.

Hi, Teddy
I'm glad the imagery is suffice - when it happened, it was as if those swirling Cheerios were moving in slow motion and splattering everything!
Thank you, as always, for reading!

Hello, Jerry
It's never as easy as it seems it should be.
Thank you!

Popped up...
Hello, Mark,
I will work on this a bit since it is not clear. I was actually already standing and innocently tucked my chair in - then all the action started.
Thank you!

As I read this I thought why
As I read this I thought why is it not in the contest for a funny poem; when that bowl went flying I had to laugh.
Cheerios
Hi, tyro,
It is funny looking back on it! The ordeal was over in a split second, but I found Cheerios days later...hiding.
Thank you for reading!

Guess...
I must have forgotten to, save my comment, because I know I did. I know all about the slow-motion thing, during an accident; I have had a few of them where I have watched it all happen as if in slow-mo. I especially enjoyed the Cheerios and milk soaring through the air to splat against the ceiling and floor. Was it an after-the accident maintenance?>Or the cause of it? ~ Geezer.

Hello, Geezer
I was going to paint first...had moved table and chairs away from the area while holding a full bowl of Cheerios in hand. It was going to be so simple...
Thank you!

Yup...
always going to be a simple fix. I've said that dozens of times and wound up hours later, asking myself; WTF? How did I get into this mess? Nice job in sorting that out for me. LoL ~ Geez.

sounds like a murphy's law day ( if it can go wrong it will)
what a mess cheerios all over lol
Hi, Chrys,
Quite the mess, indeed! And you are right about Murphy's Law, but it does add a little humor to poetry.
Thank you!
