Don't clip my wings
for I've just learned to fly
to a soul that is restless
don't ever ask why
A fool I'd be to let this light grow dim
I answered the voice that cried from within
the hunger is deep the flames rise high
it calls out to me
let me fly ,let me fly
Give me the freedom of a bird in flight
let me take all he darkness
and turn it to light
A fool I'd be
to watch it all die
I won't let it fade to a tear and a sigh
it calls out to me
let me fly,let me fly
the hunger is deep the flames rise high

The Will to Fly
Hi, Chrys,
It's the will to fly, succeed, blossom, grow that is so important. Your poem conveys that very well, especially with the use of the word 'hunger' several times throughout. Great final line - I envision a Phoenix.
Thank you!

I enjoyed your inspiring poem
I enjoyed your inspiring poem about the immaterial force that resides in all of us. And that age old dream of loosening the clay feet, to soar in spiritual lands.

Hi Chrys, what a lovely poem,
Hi Chrys, what a lovely poem, excellent for these trying times. It's uplifting and has good rhymes all the way through. I especially like the strophe below;
Give me the freedom of a bird in flight
let me take all (t)he darkness
and turn it to light
It's a beautiful wish, may God bless us all with that Light.

Hello again, Chrys, each time
Hello again, Chrys, each time I read your poem I imagine different things. I like the idea of taking off like a large bird, as Jerry says. Enjoyed a lot. Best, Gracy
