A sense of humor
Have you seen my sense of humor
seems I've lost it
along the way
The folks around here said
they saw it just the other day
ah but then it is known to
often go astray
I've lost my sense of humor
somewhere along the way
some say I never had one
but then there was the day
If you see my sense of humor
please send it on it's way
and tell it to bring some friends
to banter and to play

hi c lynn
I think you are on to something. Give your sense of humor more shape- is it human, male or female, an animal, a circus clown...tell us what to look for, what color it is, what it sounds like, where it likes to hide. Then we can tell you if we've seen it...and that would fill the poem with images, fun images, in what is a ultimately a serious subject. Laughter is the great expression of joy and happiness, and you need a sense of humor to be complete, to be human, to be happy, Explore more your subject through imagery.
You have a great idea here...keep at it.
My take.

hmmmm to serious well thanks for your input
I laugh even in grief
all say my humor is very brief
short lived yet they smile
Buddha's way
your's is good enough by the way
no need to go astray
to find another way
laugh at yourself I say
enjoy your own humor today
lovedly

thanks for the read and the interesting insight. it was not meant to be sad
I am in agreement...
with Eumy. I think it would help to know what it looks like, so that we might identify it properly. Try something like:
My sense of humor has a bent
for funny, little looks
I wonder where it went
It has a smile that crooks
Blue eyes, I think it has
but, I'm not really sure
I think that they may spaz
But laughter is a cure
