The Eccentric poet

Time will tell........

Another night arguing, we sleep alone,
Side by side tonight.
You and I forever fighting, from sleepless dawn,
To weary last light.

With every cold confrontation, my love for you
ebbs away,
I'm battered bruised and broken, in a marriage
Of domestic decay.

Nothing I do is good enough, Yes I heard how much you blame me.
You rip my lonely life apart, and yet you demand the apology?

Then comes on the stubborn silence, another lesson I've failed to learn?
Confusion fills the emptiness, wondering which
Version of you will return.

I gave up so much for you, so much time & emotional currency mispent,
Promises of a life of happiness,
Now have festered into acrid, cold Contempt.

I believe you when you say your leaving,
That you're done with me and you don't care,
I didn't think you would treat me like this,
Turn love into bitter hatred, for you and me
Another unhappy love affair.

Will we learn from this I guess not, this
Situation happens all the time,
We know at the top there is just emptiness,
Yet hazy and hopeful we still climb.

Do you think your stubbornness with get us there?
To the quixotic delusion of "Death do us part"
Or will loves light bleed ephemeral
Leaving us nursing our enervated, fragile hearts?
Time will tell........
