An idea pulses brightly and I try desperately
to catch it before it fades away
It's as though it is a shooting star
racing away over the horizon
Sometimes, a thought is one of many
like in a meteor shower and it follows the rest of them
across the sky and disappears into the void of forgetfulness
while you are still separating it from the herd
Dragging cold sparks across the sky, this one almost got away
It fizzles and sputters, alternately smoking and fading
and I finally get it to catch fire
burning it into the page to warm another lonely night

Wow
Love this work, your word choice and style really speak to me. I love how it sounds like you're just writing down what you're thinking and then go back to fine-tune it. It makes the piece seem very authentic.
Thank you...
Your assessment of what I do is right. If I don't write the gist of the idea down, often times I will lose it. I think of something, but say to myself; "This is something I will remember, I won't forget this!" But... it is forgotten because my brain hasn't had time to absorb it before another idea/thought comes along and pushes it out of the way. Kind of like: I think of something really poetic and the line is a thing I want to keep, but then the phone rings or my wife calls me; something interferes and it gets away, flying over the horizon, lost!
I most often write in rhyme, but occasionally write free form. I have been here on Neopoet about ten or eleven years. I have learned a great deal since I've been here. We have many fine poets here and I learn something all the time. I hope that you will find many great ideas here, join our workshops and enter our monthly contests. ~Geezer.

Thank you much...
It is so nice to get good feedback from the reader. If I give anyone a boost, it makes the time I have spent fine tuning a piece well worth it. ~ Gee.

Excellent,
Excellent, enough said. Regards Roscoe....
So glad...
that you enjoyed. I think that many people feel the same way as I do about writing and they way that they accomplish finishing a piece. Keep grabbing those ideas out the ether and polish them up to deliver.~ Gee.

Wow!...
I have my very own stalker! I am so pleased that I have a fan such as you. Thank you so very much, for looking at my past works and commenting. It is a rare privilege indeed, to have someone with your expertise and obvious knowledge in my corner. ~ Geez.

Those cows...
were a mooooving experience. I guess that looking at the bright side of life is what helps me get through the hard times. I Maybe I should go back and look at some of my titles and check to see if some of them are funny enough to catch your interest. I do think that there are some that you haven't commented on, that are as humorous as the cows. Thank you so much for all your interest in my work. ~ Geez.
