Wrinkles In a Cup

The coffee was acidly strong right about then.
Just hung stingy and pricking on the buds.
I knew I tasted this bitterness before and there I stood.
Holding in the sour guts of it all night; delaying the foreseeable.
All night, changing the words, shielding the wound.

The position of your tangled frayed excuses, didn’t seem to matter much.
I said all there was, pulling out the sliest of comebacks from my crinkled pockets.
I smooth them out on the table in front of you
Flattening every reason I could think of. Still the creases yell back.
We would never be crisp again; the folds will remain no matter how faint.
So, here lies the intestinal life of what we used to be.

The sun is rising and the season of my coffee is sweeter this morning.
I think I’ll have another.

Geezer

but your line before last contradicts the premise of the poem. How about; Reason makes my coffee a little sweeter this morning? That way, one can see that you have convinced yourself that all is for the better! ~ Geezer.

the line before last is:
The sun is rising and the season of my coffee is sweeter this morning.
it is the opposite of the first line and most of the poem because, She see's now their life together has died. So though her coffee was bitter as they talked it out it ends sweeter because she knows no more of that bitterness will taint the relationship because the relationship is no more. It's a sad beginning with a the awning of a brighter sweeter life ahead, for her.
makes perfect sense to me. Thats why I wrote it that way. its the way I write just about everything because i like my style.
But thanks so much for taking the time to read it.
