The River Waters

The soul is still and deep with waters green
It hides me from the things I’ve been
To wander there at its side
To see the stories that it hides

Each day to be

Shallow waters are like the tongue
Talks so much to everyone
It tells of stories that were fun
It bubbles then catches the sun

It runs to fast

Waters wide with depth anew
Gives me the picture that of you
Where there for hope it flows with pride
Its banks are strong on either side

Is seen as you

Let waters run or drift slowly through
To the future they flow with you
To carry things that are needed now
To bring to me things that somehow

Belong to me

The rivers of my mind are strong
They carry me as I go along
In safety from the maddening ways
Where folk would try to ruin my days

Away from them

I seek the shelter of the sea
Its arms are held so wide for me
I will twist and turn then find my way
Held in its arms where I will stay

In love to be

Now as the sea I beat the shore
As wave on wave I need some more
The feelings that I use to hide
Is as the sea now a new tide?

To care for me

Each wave I bring you fresh and new
Feelings that are born so true
But different as the days go by
It’s as life that’s passing by

See me there

As the tide now races out
It takes me with no need to shout
We can now whisper all the names
Of mine and theirs to be the same

Remain a part of me

I love the way of your being
I watch the waves with feeling
They keep my mind to rest in them
I now belong to everyone

In life to be

Out in the Oceans of the world
I go the way with spirits unfurled
With gentleness that carries the seed
Of life to all the ones that really need

Await new birth

The sunshine draws me
It takes me up and sets me free
Carried aloft as gentle cloud rain
To be returned to the river once again

A new life to be.

Yenti.

I think I have about three different ones about the river going to the sea, one is in the "Wisdom of the Great Bear" I suppose we seek many scenarios for our writing, after writing a few thousand and just writing as they flow through there are bound to be many near the same..
If I keep writing so much maybe one day I will do the complete Shakespeare works lol.. Hope you and Susan are keeping well, Take care young traveller.
Know that we are walking much the same pathways, Yours Ian ..

Roscoe Lane

Very good, it carries the reader along like the waves. Regards Roscoe..

Many thanks for your visit.
I have been having to put some old ones on line at the moment,
as time on line has become clogged and I only write sat at the comp.
3 and a half hours per day may seem a lot but Friends and E Bay take most of it.
Also I write for about five sites, I write for a couple of sites that use 5 liners,
and I find that they are so easy for my writing.
But I have still entered the Stans Contest,
can you imagine me writing a complete Penty something piece lol.
Take care and thanks again for your visit,
Yours as always, Ian ..

Geezer

a complete cycle to me! From deep pools of the soul, to the lazy stream that goes gently, to the swiftly flowing river and the ocean into rain and back again! Nice! A real trip. ~ Gee.

Lovely to have a visit from you, at the moment I am sorting out all my poetry..
I lost track of the first 100 from when I was 15 to a bit later but may have found them for a while this was a write from around 2000. Never sure if it is worth revisiting all those writes ago lol
Take care and thanks again,
Yours, Ian ..

I have just edited and reposted one of my older ones myself. It gives me some insight as to what I was thinking then and what I think of it now. I learn something about myself and my work, every time. If we don't look back once in a while to see where we have been; we may never know how to get where we are going! It's like being in the woods in unfamiliar territory, you have to look back at a feature in the landscape, in order to keep your bearing. And you may have to return that way in order to get home. ~ Gee.

I have just found my first 100 poems or writes that I put out, I thought I had lost them and that would have been bad as it was some of the early works.. But I still have my notebook from when I was 15 so as soon as I have recovered these 100 I will start to put out my note book entries.
Take care young man and great to walk with you as always, Yours, Ian

Sparrow

Many thanks for you visit,
Most of my river poems or stories follow the life cycle we journey through.
Some are more western than most but I although I have travelled quite a bit I assume that we can equate life with a rivers flow..
Take care, Yours Ian

IAN YOU ASSUME

BUT I'VE DONE IT ALREADY

IN MY MANY POETRY

A drop of water to the top of a cold mountain adds more
then trickles down gradually
streams falls abound
finally a river is formed

now compare it with life
from a sperm a kid is born
then struggles like a river all along
is lovedly wrong
