Mary

Exuding the best version of Mary possible
Amongst many roles-maintained years ago
A smile so true, held on skin so soft
Each kiss melting with slow tender release

Grooving side to side in the captain’s seat
Surrey back roads in cherry red magentas
Shania bringing us home with “Forever and always”
Responsibility and sons on the other side

Ginger and garlic stewing in the wok
Ready to taste with rice and prayers
Welcoming food you helped provide
And the kindness always shared

Standing on achy feet often unforgiving
Each passing minute taking a silent toll
Your throne against black leather rejuvenation
Resting, until pressing duty called attention

Creased lines protrude on facial canvas
Decades come and gone, embraced with grace
Nine babies have blossomed into giants
With Mary’s patience and love to guide us

The older I get, the more my heart sees
Innocence held and all you did for me
Allowing your curious child to express and roam
Encompassing the magic of a happy home

A soul filled with purpose in this dimension
Is Instilled in the core of your daughter
Your sacrifice and love call attention
My love for you is beyond comprehension

This is not a usual everyday love poem. It is so much more . It is a tribute to a wonderful person. Someone I wish I had known. You were blessed to have this person in your life and I hope it is a true person that you are writing about. Great poem!
