Like a Hanger (For an Airplane)

Bears have a coat

Of luxurious fur.
Birds are covered in ornate

And soft and colorful plumage.
Elephants wear

Their own ivory jewelry.
But the outfits

Animals bring with them
Wherever they go,

We take on and off
Like airplanes.

What is necessary to us
Is a carry on.

Pen and paper,
Phones and computers,

Reading glasses
And diamond rings.

Our lives are,
For the most part,

Outside of ourselves.
While flowers take root,

And sloths become one
With the trees they climb,

We are forever
Accounting for our stuff.

Whether we have too much or not,
We are born managers.

And perhaps the holiest
And most loving of habits,

Is simply
Folding our clothes.

I do not think you meant the airplanes do to dressing and undressing but the passengers ....that line confuses me
But otherwise the flow works Our lives are for the most part outside ourselves.
