At last I am among these great mountains surrounded by snow caps and clouds. Pungent green and blue valleys drink from melting waterfalls below. How many times I’ve flown above them, higher than any bird has known, as they appear like a spear with white veins gleaming in the sun to the wide rivers and lakes.
I pass my days at sea level, far from the sharp shadow of mountains, in the company of trees and living things, and the small stones on the carpeted earth. What is calling me here to feel this magnificence of rock? To feel the goodness of timelessness? To a memory which becomes part of me, like the first ocean sighting long ago, or the sunrise in the desert, or first time in a plane flying past the moon...

Mountain Night
Remember the wind, the sound,
The whistling current of life force
And the crisp taste of air made thin.
How the stars at night exploded,
Touching the towering heights,
Filling the sky like a veil!
If nothing else, remember this.

Hello Mark
a very apt form. I thought you've successfully make use of it on both levels, the prose and the poetry as well. I think I'm going to turn my last piece to this form as I'm not very happy with the introductory stanza. Thank you for sharing.
a very beautiful concept Eumolpus
'twill suit my kinda poetry ----prosaic and then purity
gem like as you oftener once did see
I found in this, pure delight
I loved this work, I felt like I got to have a 3 course meal of delicate flavour & real substantial nutrition. Thank you, partly for the pleasure of the clarity & ease of expression, not to mention the skill that made it flow so well, & partly for the content/subjects there-in. I wont go into it, but I have a passion for flying & a matching passion for forest etc. So this was a double treat for me.
Thank you also for the accompanying message, (dessert?) which added another layer of enjoyment in furthering my understanding/education.
So glad I found this one! Bravo, wonderful piece.
I much appreciate your thoughts
