The Owl's Question

Nature blesses us everyday.
With roses and radishes
And red skies
At night.

Though everything happens
In its time,

The corn in in April
And the double-edged
sickle
The whisper of assimilation
Come fall

It is more like a billiards game
Than a simple
Stitched baseball
That travels in just one line

The owl with many feathers
And pirouetting neck
Cries
In every direction

Who? Who? Who?

Who will plant?
Who will buy?
Who will transport?

Who will sacrifice?
Investigate?
Experiment?

Who will glut themselves
Off of a land
That gives and gives and gives

And spit out the bones
For others to choke upon?

And who will take up the cause
Of the multifaceted earth
That feeds us

In so many metaphors?
So many moveable feasts?

the style that you use here, on and off, for some time now, so I did have a good idea where this was going. That being said; there were some lines that I just didn't get. "By river's" ??? I would have preferred that you had stuck ANY word on the end of that line; edge, side, bed etc. Then there is the

"The orange juice of globes and cylinders." I couldn't get the significance of the cow bellows and the
bear roars",; unless it was the continuing thought of the blender and the cow being a frappe or "shake" and the bear roaring as the blender noise. I guess you might just have moved a teeny bit too fast for the thoughts there. Nicely put together otherwise. ~ Geezer.

thanks Mark. The Who? who? who? was actually the starting point for the poem, though I agree the transition from part one to part two is pretty rough. the cylinder is a carrot! haha.
