Two things never disappoint.
With unconditional love
even when you make mistakes
they soothe the soul with a touch, look, hug
that can heal the aches.
And because they are innocence
the universe allows the loan
of power usually only granted the gods
to wrest and twist a smile from a frown.
Young children and old dogs.
Two things from my past world I miss.
Two different types of feet.
Two two-legged forever following me
and a set of four bounding behind to the beat
of tail-wagging, tongue-hanging glee.

I get the essence here
I know of what you speak of here Judy and having read your book I know how much you miss those footsteps. You speak of the unconditional love and that is just what I got in this write. You know that no one person will get a poem or understand its meaning unless they feel and image the write. That is just what I have done here and it is sad but meaningful.
imho
Love to you Aussie Mom

this began as a poem about the four-legged lost footsteps
but as for the two two-legged....
they just seemed to naturally fit in there - the memory wasn't complete otherwise.....

title
Missed the first title but this one does fit. The innocence of pets and children make them very easy to love and also easy to miss when they're gone or grown. If I keep running my mouth this comment will be as long as your wonderful poem lol......scribbler
it was just 'two things' stan
