Fun with Microbes

eyes engaged with tiny breeds
moving around at a wiggly pace
back and forth I move the lens
to focus with its eyepiece grids

I wave to them with a gentle Hello
but they sneer back at my eye
get lost they said from below
please leave us alone, don't spy

tears in my eyes fogged the lens
for a moment they're out of sight
surely I'd caused them fright
to me they looked so tense

I sent them a wish to befriend
and asked them how they feel
it's too hot in oven they said
when left alone with our meal

I slid my way down the scope
to meet my friends in wait
but they tied me up in a rope
it turned out to be my fate

so I spent the night in a petri dish
floating in the agar like dead fish
the culture there made me sore
i just couldn't get back ashore

they said they had enough of me
so they stuck me down with glue
i found i couldn't move my knee
for they had touched me with flu
