CHRISTMAS HUNTING SONG

* sung to tune of Jingle Bells

Jingle bells, shotgun shells
rabbits all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride
in a beat up chevrolet, hey!

Jingle bells, grandma smells
rabbits on the run.
Listen to the beagles bray
oh man this is fun!

Afternoon on Christmas day
we decided we would hunt
so we gathered up the dogs
including that young runt.

And down the road we went
to a neighbor's field full of brush.
We stopped and loosed the hounds
who bound out in a rush.

Then soon a trail was struck
and hound music then began
as a rabbit ran its dodging path
avoiding both dogs and man.

Jingle bells, shotgun shells
rabbits all the way !
Oh what fun it is to ride
in a beat up chevrolet

*Some of this is a long remembered verse from my childhood when our family would usually go rabbit hunting after lunch

Love it. It's light but not trivial, and refreshing in its sense of unprejudiced retelling. You really brought me into that experience of hunting on Christmas day. Thanks for the great read.

All the best,

Nicholas.

I could only recall the first stanza from so many years past and had to wing it on the others lol. Just wanted to share the fun before this ditty disappeared. Thanks for the visit and Merry Christmas
