Let compassion lead

Let our gift lead others to excellence,
and every soul relish its fragrance.
Gifts are meant to make us significant,
and never to portray us as arrogant.

Our everyday life must reflect kindness,
only the arrogant ones are kindless.
If in all our ways we shun arrogance,
we will maintain a status of significance.

Let our hearts be opened to compassion,
and daily be filled with this passion.
Be careful your gift is just a segment,
not harnessed will ebb into a fragment.

Be solemn but moderate in stricture,
walls of friendship free will be from a fissure,
Our everyday life must reflect virtue,
guile, conceit, we must learn to eschew.

A selfless act of kindness will suffice,
for the needy ones as a sacrifice,
we should always do this with ardor,
so that everyone can live in splendor.

A bit on the preachy side, nice
sentiment, yet not a realistic view
of the world around us.
Out there in the world there are
greedy people ready to pounce on
any that let their guard down.
I do like your resolve and your
desire for righteousness but history
tells me that mankind isn't quite
ready, hopefully I'm wrong.

thanks for sharing

Thank you so much themoonman, maybe more hands are needed on the deck for mankind to see the need for this change .I really appreciate your comment sir and thanks once again.

lovedly

there are far too many idealistic folks
who only speak and poke
okay joke

this world is racing
at a fast speed
greed
is overcoming
power
is storming
like tsunami

why the hell
will I not be first only
blast the rest
you may
I am the man
of TODAY

So to you friend
I pray
lose your fantastic
idealistic way
you may
MAY not today

but to change the world
it costs a lot
no one can nor could
but still guys pray
that one came
we are still insane
hope I am wrong

Once again you have written a great song. could be reggae, could be Fela, could be Rey Lema,
cold be Quincy Jones, but it's a GREAT song.
I guess it's that the category of "inspirational" poems- those that preach a message, tell people how to live, love, show compassion, believe, are best in songs, and sung about. As poems...its about the mystery of words, conveys emotion, truth, whatever without direct telling, or tells "poetically"...Your language is direct, using the ballad form of song. Your telling us what to do, how to be...I think we want to sing about it more than read about it.
As I said, my take. You must show some of your work to your local recording stars. Good lyrics are hard to find, and many of your poems are a goldmine for good composition.
