As usual there were many fine entries which also makes it tough on judging. It came down to two and the deciding factor was one of these two poems was not on subject.
Thank you all for entering and I hope you had fun in doing so.
I hope you will join me in congratulating Mark for his winning poem........stan

Times were tough, but dad, a job he had
Fine clothing and hair, we all had lunch fare
Ten of us total and this one the target,
target of the jealous, those who didn’t care
The route was small, and spread out worst of all
Pennies and dimes and the MIAs were not fine
The dead on the front page were more day by day
Images of hell, depressing the way
Watergate was no bother, too young to know
Squeaky soon pulled a gun at your show,
show (when I saw something drastic had changed)
The times had changed, home were the soldiers
Unwelcome, feared and forsaken
Gerry, don’t fret, there were no more taken.

hearsay
don't believe it
you were the best undoubtedly
I only compose out of fun
no work
so I keep myself busy
some like me many don't
what is it
a few reliable friends are better
than a dozen matchsticks mostly
I enjoy your poetry
Very well done

Mark
poets just reel
let readers
what they feel
feel
You will never feel like a good poet.
It is part of the curse of the attempts. However, this was an excellent entry. Congratulations.
