I see broken rocks and get a picture of men in shackles both breaking and being broken.
Probably had too much caffeine......

If you add lichenous, I see Dartmoor. A collection of sun dappled granite rocks all covered in lichens.
If you add worn, I see the limestone pavement above Malham in N. Yorks. It's quite a famous geological feature have a google.

My knee jerk response was to see the Moon. Broken off from us, but still a stone that is part of Earth.
I know that was not your intention, but it's what I saw.
