Description: Post your first ever or earliest poem
Leader: Jess (weirdelf)
Moderator(s): Wesley
Objectives: Just for curiosity, to see where we've come from.
Level of expertise: Open to all
Subject matter: Most of these poems will be polished or not actively editing. This is not really a workshop but more 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours' of our earliest works.
Most important:- Remember when posting your first poem to scroll down to 'Workshop' dropdown and select 'Poets first poems'.
.Done
.
Wesley, the idea is to post it to the Stream
with 'Poets first poems' workshop selected so this thread doesn't become long and unmanageable.
So edit your post, cut "Sonnet on The Man" from it, then post that as a poem on the Stream with Workshop 'Poets first poems selected.?
Will you please edit this that way?
See? Participants can click on my "The Wave"
Without it occupying heaps of space on this thread.
dear Jess,
may I join this workshop? thanks in advance, Cat

Done,
and welcome.
Add me...
I don't have copies of any of the earliest of my poems, but I remember this one
because I used to tell this one to my children and nieces and nephews when baby-sitting them.
I used to tell them mixed-up fables and children's stories at bed-time and they loved them. Anyways, they liked the one about the bare bear. ~ Gee.

Done, and welcome.

Being
Nowhere does the sun feel so good
Nowhere does the wind blow so gentle
As in the heart of a peaceful man.
Ian-1957
PS:- The title was added at a later date I still have the original in an exercise book along with a few other scribbles..
Take care loves you all,
Yours Ian..

wow, written in the year of my birth!
Perhaps it encourages my coming into being for the good sun and gentle wind. Still working on the peaceful man bit [smiles]

It is a great idea.
First poems are like first memories.
It is often hard to tell which one was the first, and where is the thin border line between initial mumble and the text one calls my first poem. Lol.

I just posted two poems, not sure which one was first.
Both are more or less rumbling trivialities with a touch of fresh images. I hope you will not be bored.
I think I have developed a little more self control now. Tell me what you think?
angst-ridden atrocities are just the thing

J.
You're in
the 23 hour rule depends on whether you post the workshop poem first or the stream poem first. Can't remember which.
You did remember to click the workshop drop down, didn't you?
Jess
Every time I go to post it wont even bring up the page to add a poem. I'd say I did it ass about face. I'll make sure I do it the other way round tonight.
J.

You have a known duration
you have a pre-set darling
you have a perfection that explains itself
and then, you have the fault of us.
I have loved this trapped persona,
haven't you gone so far?
cannot you be honest in this process
of travel,
and lie no longer, how you got here?
Terribilis est locus iste
Terribilis est locus iste
Terribilis est locus iste
Terribilis est locus iste
Terribilis est locus iste
Terribilis est locus iste
Say it over and again,
it means, "dont't enter, and this place is terrible"
if that's an initiation,
then nothing will
entice me back
no spelling mistake,
no lack of entitlement
no "specious free education"
no " waiting for Aboriginal rights, forever wronged"
yes:
In a word " bollocks" - you can wait for us.
That's poetry.
Mate! You know how to submit poems to workshops!
Never to the workshop thread,it makes it impossibly long and unmanageable.
Edit your poem, scroll down to the 'Workshop' box, click the drop down, select 'Open to new participants - Poets First Poems' then save. Your poem will now be linked to the workshop at Most recent poems
Blah blah
>> View all poems submitted to this workshop
The link is also https://www.neopoet.com/workshop/view/20398
Then go back to your submission above and replace the poem with the link to your poem, please.
you're right,it's disappeared
despite still saying 'Open to new participants'.
I'll look into it. Thanks for letting me know.
