I am but a shadow
In the dark resides;
I stand on the other side,
Just looking at the passersby -
Silently awaiting the night.

I am but a ghost
Whose colors do not fit,
Whose hues cannot be mixed
With that of the other world.

I am but a being
That saunters on empty streets,
Breathing freely in the silent world,
Drifting in and out -
Never belonging anywhere.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: Real life gets in the way and inspiration is as elusive as a beautiful fish. If luck is on my side, I can get a hold of it and write down; if not, I can only put down my pen and look at the blue, blue sky and sigh.

The Rain Sprite

Is it not true that thse who look at the sky yearn for freedom? To be able to fly untethered without anything weighing them down? The sea is another vast world indeed. A fish that swims on the opposite direction.... A ghost that wanders on deserted street....

I remember the cottage
a cedar deck they built..stone cribs
shallow lake on our beach
tannic lake...brown murky tinge like tea
full of bass and leeches and sawdust
every spring the old logs and cut ends
would roll up...we would dry them and
burn them in the fall in the firepit
but during summer I would lay with my
head hanging over the edge of the dock
watching the clouds upside down
preferring the reflection 'above' that
perspective inverted look...

or canoeing in the quiet of the fog at
dawns first light....
old old memories now
water i do not like
but every so often brave the water
diving for the treasures
mostly junk off the docks on quiet
days.....the neutral bouyancy
is pleasant
the mute farther reaching wavelengths
of sound different then the above
din sound of crisper tones
and occilation

thank U
