I haven't been on site for a wee while and am so glad I bobbed in today and found your blog.
It's strange, we've never met and live on different continents, let alone in far away countries. Yet, I feel a bond. (you're probably thinking bloody loopy woman :-) ) and the deep impact your writing has had on me.
Although I know you are in pain and the future is not a rosy one, I wanted to say hi and happy new year. I think of you and Richard and wonder how you're both getting along.
I wish we could have met up in your heyday. I'm damn sure you had some great moments and a lot of fun, I'm sure we would have been a terrible influence on each other. Your photo has that irrepressable feeling of someone that knew how to laugh and make others laugh.
Anyway, on a cheerful note, the weather here in UK is bloody awful, (we love talking about the weather in England - it saves talking about anything meaningful) and life is revolving around doctors, appointments and hospitals - bad, homemade cider (think you call it hard cider) - less bad, the odd glass of decent wine - good, and a recent foray up to the Lake District, which was incredibly grey and wet (clue's in the name). However, from the inside of a very old and luxurious coaching inn, sat by a roaring log fire with some excellent food and wine, it was positive Utopia.
I am currently being harrangued by a ferral cat, that seems to have decided I need a familiar and a rescue dog which is worried because the cat has taken up residence in his basket. Before the fur starts flying or my ear drums perforate, I had better intervene.
Love to both of you. Jxx

Sometimes those hopes shed a little light in dark times
and are not always a bitter reminder.
Without dreams, souls become muted
and have nowhere to fly..

I think both you and England would have got on very well.

You both dance with the angels,
There in the twilight of our journey here
We pass or meet many of differing views
That we talk and dance with all we meet
Is a gift from what you will call your God.
You will meet him/her one day
The joy will be in what you have learned
Of all the things that touched your life.
You both are blessed for always
As you treat the world according to sacred laws
Take care and one day when the sun feels warm,
Come visit me and talk a while.
You will know it is me and I You.
As a breeze that nods the leaves
I will touch your Spirit so and whisper
Take care of you both and travel light
Take just a heart full of faith,
Yours as always Ian.T, Yenti, and Sparrow
and in those times ahead Granddad..

Richard and Joe
very lucky ones only have friends like you two
Great I may follow you two
Amen

A LETTER
It is a terrible thing to linger and know that every indignity you suffer brings you closer to the Unknown. You and Richard have been a Godsend,
Richard has what we call an “old Soul “ filled with compassion and sensitivity. He has kept me alive and made my life worthwhile for the moments I have left., I can’t hold on much longer.
I suffer to know what this will do to those I leave behind . I organized Richard’s papers, typed out his medications, and updated phone numbers in a leather-bound agenda. Richard seems so lost at times. I see the signs, and it breaks my heart. I have done my best to leave my dear friend a legacy and ward off the inevitable. And I suffer to think that he may no longer be among us as well.
God have mercy on my soul and may Christ watch over
you both,

joe
