may we be friends please

Seek not friendship
of a tree in a forest
there are so many
the next time you pass

the same lane
you wouldn't know
which tree came

and
smiled back at you

did you me woo
for friendship

I wish you knew
there are a million trees like me
which kind are you
will you tell me true

all trees lovers come and go
place hands on bare skin
to their love show
then they simply go
are you not one
like the same one
I said so
now you may also go

the forest is about to ablaze
friend you are now
in a poet's maze!!!!

Yes, we came across many trees in the forest. Once, some fifty years ago, I was travelling in the copper triangle of India-Bangladesh-Burma border. There, I came across a white (cf red) sandalwood tree. The fragrance prevails in a wide area. My friends and I sat down quite a while under the tree and then departed with a kind of awe and wonder in our minds. It was the first and the last that I faced a sandalwood tree in real life. There are many friends like the sandalwood tree, but I departed and left them. Nevertheless, I keep remembering them frequently. Friends, though far away, are always close to me.

you got it right

forest here is a metaphor
for now you know what for
thank you for reading me
a sandal wood i could also be

some day one day if not today another day

in the far folds of time sandal woods will still fragrance spray
keep that in mind
friend think of me then

when a sandal wood
comes across
as and when
thanks sandal wood man....
of yore
