The Political Pride Parade

The grateful cynics have the "house", now
toxicity levels are rather high;

but, most would choose to disregard
if all a group did was, sit and cry.

They did have quite a following
many agreed, and could also relate;

but, their numbers started rapidly falling
after losing each and every debate!

There's a revolution brewing
it's definately in the works,

popular political opinions help lead the charge
by identifying most of the biggest jerks!

It's scandalousity, personified
when opposing viewpoints seek to collide,

with all parties displaying gideon-like tendencies
we're ALL in for one crazy ride!

The tea-baggers, and the coffee filterers
are busy completing their political float,

and finally, when it's all up, and running
it'll be illegal in 13 states, to vote!

All of this political posturing
is a direct link to when we first, learned to crawl;

remember, your political pride parade moments,
download them, and then "click", to install!

A nicely constructed piece, but not not sure where you're going with it. Perhaps it is the insider references to American politics or things I don't understand like "gideon-like tendencies". That makes me think of hotel room bibles, are all parties christian evangelists?
"tea-baggers, and the coffee filterers"?
"All of this political posturing
is a direct link to when we first, learned to crawl;"?
and the last 2 lines I just don't get.

There's a couple of scansion glitches, I'm sure you're aware of and they don't really bother me much.

I'm sure I'd like it better if I understood it better. Is the title a pun on Gay Pride parades? Are you saying politics is really gay?

Cheers
Jess
No poet gains from praise alone,
if you don't have the courage or generosity of spirit to give critical feedback,
do it from self-interest- it will improve your own craft.
