pretty words
espousing deplorable ideas
by effete writers
in ivory towers
are more reprehensible
than soapbox preachers
bellowing the same sorry news
to throngs of the disinterested
at least,
as far as street sermons go,
the medium tends to override the message

Very true and very dangerous.
Very true and very dangerous. The pretty words are all too easily swallowed by some, beguiled by their promise, without looking behind for the meaning. As is intended.
I very much like the imagery in this, effete writers in ivory towers and throngs of the disinterested.
Thank you for posting. Jx
I almost forgot you!
I almost forgot you!
I am, I think, notorious for late replies
get used to it
I'm stuck in my ways
the old dog new tricks syndrome
but never for lack of appreciation..
so, thanks for the comments and compliments
I hope you are enjoying the site, and stick around for a long time
I like your style and gregariousness, keeping things hopping.

well said
I like this and the message you've put forth. Your choice of words describes all sorts of people in the news business, including news paper journalists, TV anchormen/women, sports commentators, the guys 'in the front office,' etc..clad in expensive clothing,... sharing actual news stories in a way though that includes their opinions without those watching being aware of their slant on the story. And because of that, individuals who may be seeking a way of getting their '15 mins of fame,' will watch a report of a tragic event that's been so hyped up, and realize a way to get their '15 mins.' I hope that last sentence made sense...I rewrote it a few times and now can't look at it again....LOL!
Long story short, I think your poem is well done!

Val,
I'm back. Took my usual break (Muse took a long nap)
I didn't get to your comment before leaving,
but here I am. Thanks for your thoughts.
I, personally, like a certain amount on anonymity...why would anyone "crave" fame?
I'd rather just have money...it will last longer than 15 minutes...and is more "polite" than instigating tragedy for the sake of one's own vanity
thanks again,
captian my captian..
fame is neither light nor reason..
when the wheelhouse is barren
the strongest take control
Or jump the liferaft
knowing most are doomed on
the reef..
John Teech didnt do this..
many other leaders didnt..
I dont work for money when I help
my chums......
I dont heap respect it just arrives
like interest...so My voice is never
nulled...
hard to be a leader said my Colombian
Friend....
we can be silent sammies
slipping away
or we can be the frontsmen women..
a tough cut....
a choice....if others believe in us
thats a great honor
but we dont have too take it....
I dont listen to the ghosts who say I
dont know the way out for my crew
my tribe anymore...
im not a crab in the bucket!
excellent poem on choice! Al
Thank U...Mr Wolf!
