"SO PRETTY WINTER"
Margaret Ann Waddicor 6th January 2011.
The trees are so pretty where snow falls,
there blooming, on leaves they're quite big,
on sticks made of silver each twig.
The bark now so dark,
now halved by the stark white down,
asleep half asleep in its gown.
their presence enhancing the town.
The row of parked bikes
with new cushions that melt in the sun,
so smooth every one.
All statues a hat including the cat in the square,
of bronze or of stone,
they are cold to the bone I declare,
new fashions are coined from the air,
The church spires they ring with the sound,
of the snowflakes as they fall,
although we cannot hear them at all.
Soft sand on the pavements like fudge,
even wheels of cars, they are cleansed and pure.
And heaven has sent its bright light
to lessen depression, even at night,
there's a glow, ah so beautiful,
beautiful snow.

Excerpt from a letter at the same time.
From a letter to the son of Mervyn Peake,
who wrote the story Gormonghast, among many
others and poems as well as paintings-very like
some of the things they do now like Avatar,
but I liked his much better!!
"Wow it snows and it snows and it snows here, building such
sculptures in the landscape worthy of the Guggenheims
around the world, and reminding me sometimes of figures
your father described in his books and poems; their big noses
and particular shaped heads expressing a fairy-tale like character,
that, on my way home from the shops, entertains me so well.
Everywhere I go I am entertained, the mixture of my own imagination
and the reality I see metamorphising into new creative ideas and
thoughts that become expressed in my poetry and prose.
"Metamorphosising" I looked it up in my Thesaurus on my computer
and this stood there:" His amazing metamorphosis from gawky hayseed
to a sexy pop star." As I knew I hadn't used a proper word, but this quote
also amused me, they didn't tell us where it came from, perhaps those
compiling the Thesaurus, came upon it by chance? I suppose I should
have said metamorphosize ah no that gets the blooming red dots beneath
it too!!! I can't win. I have found out-meamorphosing- okay!
Oh just look out of the window here and see the round shallow table
with its beautiful dome; The stones have gone but the table like VERY
long teeth each slat heaped, and the soft luxurious looking cushions on
the benches look terribly inviting!!!!!!!

Thank you Shirl and Scribbler
You are ever appreciative,

the glow
"even at night"
my fave when everything is quiet
streetlights entrance
buses trundle past in a blur
and alleyways are rivers of
mystic journey
reflections awake the paint brush of you mind's eye
Dear Steven your words spark images so vivid
as you lead us down the dark alleys of night,
and the reflections awake the paint brush
of you mind's eye
to describe details others don't see without your guidance.
Thank you for throwing such thoughts onto my page,
Love to you from Ann.
