a nice subtle warning in this poem ..to be cautious and not fall prey to lust ..at the same time also not giving up hope because true love does exists..it's only a matter of ability to distinguish one from the other..

beware
of blue jean clad demons

Yet lead this not
to surrendering the quest
for some worn jeans hold
true love

warmly..

thank you raj. It will be interesting to see what other comments arise from this............................stan

you know, I've already looked up the different poetry forms and read almost everything written on site( which covers a pretty good range of forms ).I appreciate your kind comment but will continue to write mostly western classic with about a once per week foray into free verse with poems that seem best suited for that form. Just call me stubborn lol. I Do realize the many advantages of free verse in giving freedom in expression sans the restrictions of rhyme but these are what challenge me most and I love a good challenge...................stan

I'm glad you enjoyed this. Has it occurred to you that my wring in western classic may be what allows my free verse to carry what power it does carry. You should consider trying rhyming poetry every once in a while and see if it leads to better free verse, which I know is your preferred style..........................stan

Now I know there's someone

who believes in me

my genes

and
not ONLY my jeans

So to those of pure heart
beware
of blue jean clad demons
spouting all the right words

that are lies

~anna suggested a free verse version so here goes.............

Some souls sprout from stony beds
with hatred cold as glacial springs
or desire as hot as thermal vents
neither inviting stays of long duration

their lust
as near as they get
to love
soon rusts
sending the corrupter seeking
fresh victims

So to those of pure heart
beware
of blue jean clad demons
spouting all the right words
that are lies

Yet lead this not
to surrendering the quest
for some worn jeans hold
true love

okey-dokey, which do ya'll like best ?
