Centenary Celebrate, what!

Centenary Celebrate, what.

Mr Churchill I wish you were here,
to see what you have done.
The people who fought and died
for you, want to know what they
have won.

The battles finished in forty five
welfare was born on forty eight.
But those still lucky to be alive,
don’t think it’s all that great.

The NHS is more than wonderful,
but the rich are robbing it to death.
The pensioner can’t afford the fuel,
there’s no warmth in their last breath.

These were wars to end all war,
but there’s so little peace around.
I ask what we’re fighting for,
that black liquid in the ground.

We don’t fight for a better earth,
we’re all far to fucking selfish.
All thoughts are about our worth,
children’s lives are a great big wish.

Palestine children wish to stay alive,
along with children who live in Iraq.
The young of Syria struggle to survive,
they stopped wishing a long time back.

Compare us to animals in the wild,
fighting only to breed and eat.
Then think of the western man child,
who’s only wish is the penthouse suite.

Don’t you believe I have a case,
I don’t mean one written in law.
To deny the poorest is a disgrace,
I only wish they’d find a last straw.

There cannot be any blame put at the doors of those that didn't return after any of the wars.
If only we could vote for the one that is the best for the Job of running a country.
At the moment we have a load of Eaton friends crushing the poor even more.
We are two pensioners here and on our pensions those in power deem it right to take £16-00 off of us per month.
These pensions were from when we worked a while back, and each of those pounds we earned had already been taxed, why do they want tax on money we have already paid tax on.
The present Idiots are crushing the NHS so that they can sell it off to their cronies from their school.
We are here in a position where none of them are worth their pay and they should be persecuted for the mess they continue to make.
Damn them why do I say now that I am glad to be the age I am, knowing that I wont be here when in the next few years they crush us completely, I don't though think you can blame Mr Chuchill I think he was a leader we needed at the time of war.
Your Poem was good otherwise, Yours Ian.T

Ian i could never lay blame at any person who fights and dies in war, it's the futility of war i'm trying to get at. The working class of any country suffers the most in war, but gains nothing in return. They (the governments) promised so much after world war one and two. But even now in 2014 the poorest in our country suffer while the richest gain. The status quo is preserved by the puny political classes, and we do nothing but take the carrot offered. Thanks for your time and comments. Regards Roscoe...

Intelligent subject, excellent form, even a good rhyme scheme. This is my kind of poetry.
Again, Bravo!
