Dull aches of the Lion-Heart
Fantasies smashed and left like wreckage
on the 'Yellow Brick Road'
The Wizard has left the scene
Shocked monkeys lie twitching
as he looks to the sky for the twister
that destroyed his beliefs
“We're not in Kansas anymore”
Tin-men don't cry, they just rust away
waiting for rescue.
The oil-can is empty
and gas is cheap.
Night settles around the breeding-grounds
The Velvet Fog of your voice
turns to sirens of despair
The bomb is waiting to explode

This is a poem about real life versus our youthful dreams. Unfortunately as adults we're thrown into the lions den of reality. Your poem tells the story perfectly. Great work Regards Roscoe..
Thanks Roscoe...
I had hoped that it would come across that way. ~ Gee
