I forgot where this conversation was being held, so I thought I would just throw it out there in a blog.
Technically, an ellipsis (...) is used to replace an omitted word or phrase (never at the end of a sentence or quotation).
Loved and I abuse it mightily. I use it to create an over indulgent... um... pause.
Grammatically it is a no... no, but it's my English and I'll "ellipsis" if I want to.
Now, none of the rest of you are allowed to abuse it.
Just Loved and I. We're special.
here you are dear sir

You might like to read the whole thread again.
I use it
to create a pause as well and yes I did abuse it in my last poem and I am not sorry :) I thought it added to the mystery and darkness. As you know, I am not exactly the grammar queen when it comes to poetry, however, my written papers for my psychology classes are flawless. Go figure.
HEY!
I've been abusing it for .........years. BTW I have been informed elsewhere that it's only proper to use 3 dots, never more. Screw that. ........................................................................................................stan
Sometimes I use only.. um.. two.
Is a period just an "ell"?
those dots.......................
firstly I must thank Wesley Snow sir....
for bringing us about
prominently
as dots two and three
I once wrote a poem on some guy
a married one who started taking fancy
'''A DOT FOR YOU... AND A DOT FOR ME ...THE THIRD DOT FOR YOU IS FREE....
HE USED DOTS TO CONVEY KISSES so many...
Then onwards I started using them freely
As expressions of love
The last few drops you know...
But one day Jess pointed it out to me
don't use ellipses
till then I did not know what an ellipse was....
I knew only about eclipses
he made me wiser as
always he did..................................------------------...........................
Haha buggar off I been not
Haha buggar off I been not saying lots since day dot. Lmao
JC x
aww come on
i think it will be great when one writes a poem about competitors in the sports as a first person basis to show that he is gasping. My former teacher suggested it for my poem "The Race"..Can i do this , pleeease? not fair if only you and Loved are the only ones using that style..
Alid
Language is for us to use
and abuse.
at least there is smething common
between Snow and Loved........
haven't you observed
the ellipses....
did u think both had a letter O .....
