"SPRING?"

We stood behind you
in overthrowing dictators
on your way to freedom
and self government
your revolutions

Then injected prescious treasure
to help keep you afloat
money we could ill afford
then you went to polls to vote

We hoped that your new govrnment
though run by radicals
would at least act responsibly
hope empty as the desert wind

I guess some day perhaps we'll learn
the lessons of Iran
barbarians when given liberty
turn into mad men in the sand

So much for "Arab Spring"

About This Poem

Last Few Words: In Egypt and Libya where we supported the overthrow of dictators our support has been repaid by their new governments standing by as mobs invaded our embassies and even killed Americans. I'll tell you now that we are Not the type people who let such actions go unpunished..................stan (just ask Assoma Bin Deadun)

and poetically well expressed .
However, as for politically, l think that some Americans haven't got the
lesson very well. If you believe that your government is helping for the sake of
the "Arab Spring" ,let me tell you that you are-sorry to say it-wrong .No one forced YOUR goverment to help. It is all done to protect the American INTEREST in the MIDDLE EAST. and protect its profits .So it is not
the Arabs to be blamed but the American Government. We beg your goverment to stop
that support.

Sorry if I inappropriately carried on but this is what I have learned the last four decades.

Of course not all Arabs are barbarians. But it seems that those who are interpret freedom to mean free to kill all whom they disagree with. I also agree that we had no business getting involved in Libya or Egypt. But we were and are presently led by an idiot who thinks there is no difference between true freedom fighters and terrorists. A fact I hope ends in November. The majority of Americans would much prefer letting the mid east alone, but the extremists there won't allow that...they keep killing us and our allies. It is my sincere hope that the present false spring can be wrested away from the barbarians by the majority moderates in your part of the world.............stan

and i think your use of the word 'barbarians' is a poor choice... someone with a different ideological viewpoint from you is not 'barbaric'... and you are generalising here, making a very bald statement

as far as the poem itself - it reads well in that it very succinctly gives your opinion and the reader understands your thoughts and emotions immediately

as for your footnote - i simply repeat my comment about vengence and hate that i just wrote on your 'resolve' :)

As I just said above, I am aware most Arabs are not barbarians. But how else describe those who over run embassies and kidnap, torture the behead civilians. Who deface their own women and condone rape and genocide. Who yell God is great then slaughter children for attending school? And do I hate those who would prefer to see me, you and all my loved ones dead and our countries destroyed and put under their own brand of Sharia law? YES I DO. and I'll not apologize for it. You know there are simple solutions if All Arabs were of this type. But Neither I nor my country will condone killing an entire people just to eliminate a minority of fanatics. Can't say the same for those we fight can you?......................stan PS thanks for stopping by and commenting

judyanne

and agree with what you say

i just was trying to say, in-so-far as your poem goes. that it might work better to not make it a bald statement towards all, and more maybe ask the group you are adressing why they stand by and allow a minority to speak / act for them all?

the governments only hope,
before they are in form
that guys like you and me
will place them
on the thrones ..

so that then
they can officially kick us
and
then say....mouth tightened ....
you barbaric fools...
barbraicism in the most educated period of existence
is worse than any fuckin' dogs prediction

Once upon a time the world was at peace with itself.
Then Man came and spoilt it all.
Because of his/her greed in all theatres of living. instead of using that wonderful brain they were given to the betterment of all they chose to gather together in groups that thought they could run the rest.
Technology was used at first to make things, cloths and shoes for all to wear, then plough shears to till the land, until neighbours had the thought that their land could be larger if they used their plough shears to make a weapon to take over their neighbours land then use their tools to make it work.
The world made a map and they saw that through taking their neighbours land and making them an industrial slave the map would only need two colours one Red and the other Blue for the sea.
This never worked, now you can see that we have gone full circle, many new borders with many colours have sprung up all over the world..
We start the cycle once more.. Yours Ian.T

PS:-We just cannot learn Seven sins, though not deadly to the individual, are deadly to any nation...

I think most people of all cultures would be perfectly content to just live and go their own way. But the the false leaders with hunger for power get involved and abuse their positions.......still have yet to hear a single Muslim cleric condemn the murder of our diplomat..................stan

It is a way of life in some places and the death of one person goes by each day.
I use to be in Africa it would only cost the price of a bottle of whiskey to have someone killed.
But here we are dealing with Mob rule and in many countries they do things without thought or reason, what can you say or do with a world that is so, I am glad that I am as old as I am.
It gives us the ability to see, and all some of us can see is destruction.
If only we could build something that would last, probably our sticks are too small, and the journey into oblivion is sweeter, Sorry, Yours Ian.T

I guess the fanatics must consider Allah to be so weak that he needs them to defend him by killing all who disagree........stan
