I long ago stopped believing
in a world of loving people,
I long ago stopped going in
that building with it’s great
big blood drenched steeple.

Who with common sense
could believe in such a thing,
I challenge all who read,
take a look at our world
of cosseted slumbering.

Mother Earth is burning,
men of evil rampage and kill
while politicially religious leaders
appear to talk and grandstand,
those with power are laughing
they're busy stealing wealth
or country simply by wars
at their command.

They know we love our telly
sports, soaps, terrific movies and all,
men of grey manipulate
as our guards, never that strong,
easily agree when bombs start to fall.

Stating we have governance
an order we must follow blindly
give respect,
we will have our bricks
and mortar, all that we covet or
by now expect.

Loving that we are weak
easily lead by our comforts,
houses we don’t build
telly we didn’t make,
cars are killing our planet as we
no longer walking or hunting
to supermarkets run and rake.

Could we stop living this seedy life,
stand up for what we believe is right.
Give those conniving greedy,
bastards a real and serious fright.

Somewhere inside your reasoning,
a spark begins to flicker or glow.
I beg you friends please act now,
help each other learn and know.

Know that we the common people,
can have what we desire or need.
While watching other countries get,
food and water, starving children feed.

Stop the slaughter of innocents,
while the greedy get rich and fat.
Tell them their blood soaked crown,
is no more than a decorated hard hat.

Stop coveting super sized dreams,
we can have enough for our comfort.
Change your desires to achievable goals,
helping others while staying alert.
