gliding on wings of a bee
we hover like a copter over our prey
legs laden with a bounty of pollen
using straws to suck their juice
with a sting to mesmerize the posies
we ziz zagged on our route with the loot
thrilled by this joyous ride with the bee
breathless we lied under a leaf
when the rain cleared I pruned her wings
then she took off on our fateful trip
we managed to miss some racquet strings
during a match in US Open
laughing with the crowd as they yelled
then joined in their Mexican wave
In time the sun was down
we made our way out of town
to a place with hexagonal walls
hanging by a tree in my orchard
the bee was welcomed by her queen
I was cuffed and sent to quarantine
I was searched for my identity
knowing that I wasn't their native
they screamed and pulled out their stings
the Queen bee stepped in to my side
told me in consoling voice
"we're not a sanctuary state of late
there's no place for dreamers any more
so go back to a place of honor
before we treat you like a thief
because of a crooked belief"
my friend bee had tears in her eyes
I thanked her for a dream like ride
she escorted me to the immigration gate
saying "sorry I couldn't save you my mate"

Beuatiful poem! And dark
Beuatiful poem! And dark! It kinda tells a tale. A tale of not being able to cope with ever higher expectations, coming both from outside and from the inside, that build and destroy hopes and send us step by step to the window, to the fall. The way you wrote it made the piece very visual
Keep on it really good writing you have here very direct reflects very good.
Thanks Mario
I wrote this because because I believe it is our social responsibility to point out the irony which doesn't allow dreamers to let their dreams come true

Hi raj
The dreamers have been used as political pawns by both parties. But it appears the dems are the worst of the two in that they let their hatred of Trump win out over doing the right thing by the dreamers. The metaphor of the bees tossing out the "foreign " be works well.......stan PS line 2 might be more accurate if they hovered over instead of on
Thanks Stan for reading the
Thanks Stan for reading the lines and between lines. Hopefully a solution to the issue would be found instead of making the dreamers scapegoats. Thanks for the catch about hover "on" instead of "over"...i will tidy it up..
PS: Irony is that as per history no one in the truest sense is American except the native Indians ...others have come to chase their American Dreams and some of them are now becoming dream killers...

enjoyed the fantastical metaphor around a sensitive socio-political topic. the us open line was funny and terribly ironic.
Hi Greg
It is our responsibility to also write about socio-political issues impacting human lives...ain't it? :)
