SEASONS : WINTER [updated]

SEASONS : WINTER

sunlight colors fade to dull
passing through a prism darkly
on my window sill
then shatter into pale
like ghosts dancing on the wall
faces hidden in black lace veils

the day lingers gray and cold
and the sky strikes electric
on the wings of a Winter storm.

the world stands to a still
in Nature's mourning.
I long for a Summer's light to soothe
my broken body and battered soul
but my heart has grown into a Winter'a day
no Summer sun can warm.

Such honesty. You can find the beauty amongst the suffering. The sign of a great soul.

I wonder at the mystery of it all as that time draws closer. Amazing what you learn about yourself; almost fascinating to observe the "process".

thanks, Jess

I wanted to say this is beautifully written, and I can't blame you for the dark content.
I wish you all the best.

the melancholic mood very nicely illustrated in this write...i liked the way you have compared the light and shadow effect to illustrate the high and low moments in life and comparing them to sunshine and the winter chills..i hope i have perceived the essence of your poetry the way i felt it...

Cheers!

Were it not for the fading of winter's light would we ever really appreciate the warmth of summer? Too bad things are set up so that most of our appreciations are relegated to the times beyond summer. I would make only 1 minor tweak, s-3,l-3 either delete a or 's from summer's.......................stan
