This message goes over my head, but I still like the words' pun.
it is my reaction to the
it is my reaction to the seeming absurdity of NASCAR automobile racing,
and the millions of people who enjoy,.. no, LOVE watching cars going 'round and 'round
a race track for hours a a time.
I just don't get it
it's as simple minded as this poem
the poem(?) is sarcasm
and analogous to the repetition experienced at these events
Totally agree
I see it now. I can't stand such kind of sports as well.
Al
To me this is really a waste of your talent, I know some of these life's things are totally boring but they can be eclipsed by your writing of other theme's.
Sorry but just my point of view, I would love that we try to write words in sequences of Stanzas that would last a few hundred years, than write a sigle stanza that will soon mean nothing.
We need a workshop that takes us into the realm of writing great poetry, but maybe we are not ready.
Hope you wont mind my comment too much lol,
Yours Ian
I sometimes feel like
I sometimes feel like expressing my own quirkiness, or commenting on some of the quirky things I see in the richness of passing life.
I don't like writing in blocks, or other over regulated forms
I consider what I write as "pop poetry" in the same way as I consider my music as "pop"
this is not a denigrating word to me.
"pop" It is not meant to last forever.
so...anything goes...no one can predict which will be hits...or misses
only the money people bet on the outcome, making choices as to what, or who, they will back.
the artists just create...silly works sometimes, sappy works at times, strange works,occasionally....just put it all out there (while maintaining one's own integrity, of course)
This poem(?) does not offend my integrity at all
timeliness over timeless is the pop credo.. I am not concerned with the distant future
Of course I don't mind your comment....I'm a grown man, and understand the vast range of human tastes.
regards,
Al
I fully understand this point of view,
it probably took me by surprise reading something like this from you.
Sorry, I suppose I do the same when writing the shorter pieces.
Take care out there, Yours Ian.T
I considered this to be a traffic adventure in the weather
spun out once long ago...seemed to go around forever and
forever before crunching into the snowbank..no one hurt..
I watch the russian dash cam smashes
and near misses
accompanying music...another world but a country whose
climate is similar to north american
I did figure this was about sport car racing.
its a race....everyone roughly is set up to go at just
the same speed
which is incredibly fast nowdays
and its just a matter of luck stragedy
and good driving ability to wear down
your tires..not get bumped off the track
and fuel use....pit time outs to gamble
on the outcome....and everyone gambles
on this....Its warm weather races
no freezing like football or hockey of yore
the sound is immense....
We had dirt tracks elders spoke of
Pinecrest Speedway up here in Toronto
and even in our city for a time an oval
track..I think over in Quebec they have
this....
I like Pop poetry...
I remember
A cat chasing its tail
around and around...
When we were younger
an uncle loved Nascar
Daytona Five Hundred
Richard Petty then
the old seventies beasts
americana...
and those drivers ran
shine..
now its other
Great Poem!
thank you!
Yo
the term pop has been appropriated by performance oriented poetry, not exactly what I mean by pop...the older definition, short for popular, separates pop (arts) from the more academic and intellectual varieties i.e. classical music, authentic jazz, classical poetry, or classic ballet where extensive training is usually required'
pop is now a genre to some people...very hard to actually define
I don't do performance poetry...which some now call "pop poetry"
just clarifying!
.
true...
and in a sense this is an arena of sorts where we can "perform" our talents and variety
of poetry complete with critique.......
Thank You....
and pop means interactions of course....then a mysterious poet published obscura...
lol
That's all I have to say.... lol
reminds me of that annoying song about the wheels of the bus going round
and round ...
boring and monotonous. .. just like car racing ...
again lol
