OSCAR'S PLACE

The spade bites deep into the sod.....
He never minded my slow gait
which at high speed is still a plod.
He'd run ahead then sit and wait.

The hole grows deep, the dirt piles higher.....
He'd seldom fail to lift my mood
when I was filled with some dark ire.
I was not allowed to sit and brood.

He'll like it on this brushy hill.....
He was a friend to everyone
but still had his own strong will
and yellowjackets made him run.

I gently position my old friend.....
Unabashed tears wash my lined face.
He'd gladly play fetch without end;
after wild rabbits he'd often race.

He's covered now, his final rest
beside a rotting cedar log,
with catch in breath and ache in chest
I pat his grave and say "Good dog"..............................

There's very few words can comfort the loss of a good dog, but i think this is a fine tribute to your freind. Regards Roscoe..

Thank you. I buried him on the hillside between my home and the pond where he used to chase rabbits but never caught one...................stan

If you look with your Eyes you will see him still chasing those rabbits, he will love the freedom of the meadows, where he can chase those rabbits and wait for you.
As one thing ends so another starts, but that things have happened and you sent out your thoughts, they will be in that special space you have made,
Yours with many thoughts, Ian.T

Every time I pass his grave I see him chasing rabbits and Nemisis Cat through the brush. He has joined other beloved pets and people who left but still dwell in my mind.................stan

I have several faithful friends we have laid to rest, but they're all in my thoughts still. Jx

they live bright their years!
just back in from the walk with Lilly Belle
our red sharpei bear coat
designer dog...from china..temple gaurdians
they look kind of like a chow and pit bull
with her black nose and face
fearsome and loyal
a one person dog
although the girls bought her
she is mine!
half price....although poor
the eight hundred came
through!

I have had other dogs
and been with families
whom have lost dogs
through illness car
impacts...all sad
buried many for
others whom of
course could not
do it!

they give so much
unconditional love
and accept us
complete
and the walks
the most healthy
healing thing
for both
companionship
etc

I know our pet
will go one day
so for now
we just do
in the Now
and take that!!

a beautiful poem

thank U!
