One Direction Or The Other

There are many types of crossroads
As through life we try to drive,
The types we find on roads or maps
Or the ones that shape our lives.

When you come across a crossroad
Do you know which way to go?
The choices need not give you pause
There are only four ways you can go.

Straight ahead may just be easy
As you can see the way ahead,
And back the way you came from
Could give you hindsight there instead.

Now the choices may get tougher
Because they are down to only two,
The left or right forks you might take
May be the paths to get you through.

There is one thing that is certain
A decision is needed here,
Standing still with no decision made
Will never get you anywhere.

Now how to make wise choices
Is the question here at stake,
There may not be a perfect answer
For the decisions we must make.

I think we need to take a breath
And trust that still small voice,
I thinks we'll hear an answer
That brings comfort with its' choice.

The direction we choose at crossroads
Is less about the way in which we go,
It's more about the trust of self
And the possibilities there to flow.

So when it comes to crossroads
Take the paths you think you should,
If you did your best to think things through
You'll have done the best you could.

Well put together. Good message. I took the wrong path a lot, or so I thought. Sometimes I’d get right back to that same crossroads and take the same path hoping for a different result. Some lessons we need to learn a few times before we figure it out. I think that’s ok though because even though I was running in circles, I wasn’t stagnant. I was learning (slowly albeit).

Thanks Tim for your reply. I think all of us have been known to reach the same crossroads and found ourselves doing the same thing over and over. You are certainly right, life is a great teacher and hopefully the decisions we make at crossroads in the future will be guided by our collective experiences.
