Oh, Mother

Oh, mother
Dressed in misery
Your broken spirit
Darkens the heavens

Democracy’s birthplace
Left in the hands
Of savages
That left decency
Somewhere far away

Uncertainty dances
To the sound
Of shattered
Dreams

The quiet night
Is woken
By corruption’s
Laughter

Pericles cries
from his grave
as Socrates
debates tyranny
Children of tomorrow
watch parents
sell their fortunes
for a piece
of comfort

ah, I can’t witness
my mother’s tears
nor can I hear
her screams

oh, mother
of beauty
tonight
you dress
in a
mournful black

Greece has quite a predicament facing her, though far away I know it would weigh heavily on her people far from Europe, it is akin to a mother and child. A child watching as the parent dies within the struggle of government foolishness and a people's rage. You know I already liked this one.

weirdelf

before I said anything.

Greece's troubles are caused by the world banks, that are attacking it's labor and socialist networks. Without becoming overtly political I really think you need to make clear that Greece is under attack from outside. As it reads it is like the child who can't tell if their mother is a whore or just treated like one.

Wordcrafting excellent.
