Nothing to write about

Sometimes it starts this way
you're sitting, thinking
mental gears churning
about nothing
and not one idea
about anything
seems to come to mind

So, you just start hammering
on the keyboard
and, still nothing much
a deletion, then another
but you are writing
which is half the battle anyway

And you realize
that even your
best efforts
are lacking ...... alot
and it's all more or less
worthless ..... to most

But you keep hammering
it out
a line, and then
another line.......
and the correctly
punctuated form seems
unimportant,
or irrelevant

And the time starts
to flow, and the ideas
come from nowhere
and there it is
a poem

I like this a lot. Who among us has not felt what you have written?

I think your title is very good, it catches the eye (especially of a poet, heehee) and leads nicely into the piece.

I did stumble here -

"about nothing
and not an idea
about anything"

because the 2nd line, to me, is rather passive. I wanted to read

"about nothing,
not one idea
about anything"

I hope this helps, and I look forward to your edit.

I apprectiate the constructiveness, and I think your " idea" change is very apt. I'll edit it here when I have a chance..... Gracias,,, Thanks, Mark

A realistic down to earth poem that all poets and writers can sympathise with! Sometimes we have moments of inspiration - I really get excited when that happens - others times, nothing, sometimes for days.

All the fun of being a writer!!

Thank you for sharing Edevoid.

when this was written - I sat down to have a pause/ break and just let my mind relax, I really had alot to write about, but not at all in a writing mood or whatever, but then just started writing, and acheived a small seeming result.

the feedback, and the positive comments!! I even printed out this poem and showed it (read it) to my wife... I 'm thinking I might join a local writers group..... the positive feedback has given me a modicum of confidence, and maybe I should start trying to send some poems on and out, and see what happens....... Thanks, Mark
