My friends wonder why
I don't often write
a poem about you;
"maybe she's not aware
of the Mother's day!"
"or maybe she doesn't care,"
they'd simply say.
They didn't know then
that you're the only
published poem I've
ever had
mother.

the closing lines are so vivid and strong..."you are the only published poem I have ever had mother"..these lines keep ringing in my ears long after the read...
Dear Raj
À wow, coming from you, is absolutely highly appreciated.
Thank you!
All because the poem deserved
All because the poem deserved a wow Rula. Pretty out of the box way of writing this one...

An excellent example
of free verse, something I wish I was better at. It is also brimming with love and pathos. It shows consummate skill the way you keep the winding up of the main point to very last word. Alone, the first and third verse make up a poem but the middle verse is a masterful inclusion.
Hello Keith
really appreciate your kind words. Been the first comment I'm getting today, I am not sure if anything will make my day better than your kind visit.
Thank you
Mark
You're so kind. I'm happy you like it.

Hi Rula
A short sweet poem. Has your mother read it?
