Down by the riverside
Mama's spirit always resides
I see her in the forest
In the summer rain
I long for the valley so green
our walks were so serene
In a sky of midnight blue
Stars like sequins shine through
I reach up and touch the sky
Pick a star to hold in my hand
Transport me - take me to
that promised land
Mama's my angel
here on earth
I hear her whisper softly
on the sweet summers breeze
Unconditional love
hugs are all i need.
Electric blue

Pains are a part
Of what makes us human. It’s one of those obvious truths that I find difficult and annoying. Lately have been wondering about the human capacity for enduring pains….
I like your piece. Like the couplet form, like the images.
missing mama's smile

Hello Welcome to the Neo poet family I have been away for a while.
I love being near water and memories come flooding back.
I hear the echo of Mama's laughter I see her beautiful smile
At night time we would talk and brush her long long hair before bed
we would share a kiss and many hugs before she fell asleep.
Right to the end she had such a wit. A gentle Southern Woman.
I still her saying "Lord have mercy" often
She gave me love and hugs
all i needed.
she is around me.
I wrote the poem in about three verses
but looking at it i decided to do in two lines
it was not meant to rhyme
I just stream until the running is done.
I needed a moment of peace and serenity
Mama is there.
Mama from the mountains took me in under her wing
and became the mama i always imagined a mama would be.
I was brought up in an orphanage with many other children.
That was all i knew
But i started traveling and i was lead to the mountain Mama who stole my heart and soul.
Always
Electric Blue
Glad to have you back here
Thanks for your “stream” comment. Hard for me to describe the ,creative process as well as you did in your comments above. I get involved in the nuances of describing the acts of creation, wax philosophical, and such.
When you say “southern” are you referring to southern states of the USA?
Missing Mama iis a deeper place having been brought up in an orphanage? Please comment…

Hi Ray
Yes, even reading your comments I can see and hear Mama's smile and laughter now.
Mama lived in North Carolina. A place i spent over the years living on the mountain with the mountain people away from the city etc. A place captured in time. Magical
Mama had 16 children most live on the mountain. Mama still took me in under her wing.
I met a poet at one of the conventions with the ISP. and so would go stay there over several years.
This is what i thought a mama would be.
Mama was in her 90's when i met her. We would walk the fields or sit on the porch and sing etc.
such precious memories. The rest of the family became my extended family. Still in touch and hope to visit soon.
family is not blood relatives
Family is who you choose it to be.
That is another poem which i will post to relate to this special time in my life's journey.
As for my birth parents i did get to meet and live with them for a few years.
There was no real bonding nurturing etc no touching no affection etc
just the fact was this is your mother and father
I remember the day my Mother one of my brothers and a little sister i knew nothing of came to take me out of the orphanage when i was about 13yrs. so 2-13yrs all i knew of the was the orphanage.
I can recall a lady who came and took me out about three times between the time i was there. In all those years?
The matron said you are leaving today to go live with your mother.
I asked the Matron? What is a mother?? Who are these people. In those days you were just passed over no input or conversation or explanation. So I went with them to live in rooms here and there etc. until i was old enough to leave school and get a job etc. look after myself.
Which i have done all my life so far.
many thanks

No sweeter hugs...
than Mama's! Very soft and touchable. No fault, except: [promise[d] land and her[e] on earth. [I] need.

Sad subject!
Sad subject!
hopefully a cathartic poem,,
hold on to those memories!
Well worth editing for any mistakes,
perhaps omitting words that you don't need?

Dreaming words
Yeah, some of my best work comes from remembering my dreams. Connections, images, flow, all sometimes come from my dreams.
Nice to read that someone else works with those..
