Can Your Poetry Make Us Laugh

Leave Me Be (June contest)

I would have kissed your feet,
Though at my age I can't bend so low
I can kiss your fingers
If you hold them just so.

I use to be able to jump into bed
Now I’ve got a pain in my head
The headboard has just butted me.
Still we can spend some time fancy free

What’s this I hear you want to be
Now know this: you are the same as I,
Broken bits that time passed by
Why do you think I don't chase the birds?

With my walking frame, how absurd
Now let us get down to facts
No strength to part my long hair
Just to see things I can't remember there

Let’s have our ceiling painted my dear,
So we both see something up there
Why do I go to bed nude? you are rude!
If only I could bend to put jimjams on

Then we would try and sing another song
If either of us could remember the words
Tomorrow is another day, save energy, then play
We both know that it will be the same as today..

I think maybe you should add a colon to the line in the third stanza like
"Now know this: you are the same as I"
idk

but one time my mother said to me: " When something hurts, [physically or most times, mentally] sometimes you laugh" ; I asked why and she said: "You laugh so you don't cry". I'm on the fence about that right now. Good write to keep us thinking. ~ Gee.

it is humorous, and it reminded me that only the strong in character can make fun of themselves. I also appreciated the subtlety of your inferences. Enjoyed.

Thanks for your coded message English is my Mother Tongue.
All these damn abbreviations are lost to the new world, or that's what we use to call the rest, and they actually adopted English as the international talk.
Now we are not only beset with a virus that kills old folk like me and ethnic minority, we have lost at least 60000 people so far 1 in 1000 are dead so far, considering that a pandemic usually kills about 3.4% we have done pretty well.
Now we have stupid riots on the streets, and desecration of the old makers of our country, just because a stupid cop in the USA murders a black guy..
We will cope and come out the other side as we have done for the last 2000 years..
You make sure you are protected we have lost so many of our great poets over the last few years, I am 78 now and it bothers me a little but the children look out for me and one day I will join them to help them in their tasks..
Have you any info on Joe I have his address here but don't want to write just in case it is lost some place..
Take care old poet, our days are numbered as all peoples are, Yours as always Ian ..

30 days has September, April, June, and dull November, all the rest have 31, except February alone who has 28 days clear and 29 each leap year, what number are you lol..
