Lead

Take me quickly oh Lord
I commit myself to the sea
I commit myself to the endless rolling waves.
I commit my body oh Lord
my broken bones and my shattered heart
I commit myself to the vastness of the Sea.

Pour out my blood oh Lord
pour it out like cheap wine
pour it out like cheap, rancid wine.
let it mingle with the waves
let it merge with the currents
let it be a feast for the fish and the hungry gulls.

To the race known as man
nature bestows but one fate
to die cold and alone
with a mouthful of ashes.
To the race known as man
nature bestows but one fate
to die cold and alone
with a throatful of lead...

With a mouthful of ashes
and a throatful of lead
is this the true fate of man?
With a mouthful of ashes
and a throatful of lead
is this the true destiny of man?

But yet will I think of you
when I'm cast adrift on celestial seas
when I'm lost and cold and lonely
when I'm set adrift on celestial seas.

I will search the skies
for a plain white dove
winging all your love towards me.
I will search the skies
for a simple white dove
all your love and grace towards me.
