God bless him,
he, who was born
from the womb of the darkness
to enlighten a world;
a distinguished human,
a teacher not a preacher,
a compassionate leader,
that will have no successor,
the slave and messenger of God,
peace be upon him,
Mohammad.

Wow.
Free verse. After all our work together piecing together metric constructions, you wow me with free verse.
It is strong.
Thank you dear sir
It pleases me to know that you like my little free verse piece.
Hope you give it a shot too. It's not that hard for a genius like you.
Beautiful quote!
Beautiful quote!
Wow!
This is a beautiful and inspired piece. It's as if you are writing the ultimate introduction. All Good Here.
Thank you Harmonee
for your generous comment. You are absolutely right about this being inspired. It is exactly how I heard it in my head while sleeping and directly typed into to the text box.
Thank you. Looking forward to reading your works.
Mark
How kind of you. Thank you.
I am divided
The subject I find objectionable as it appears to be someone of one belief putting their faith ahead of all others. On the other hand it is a well written poem using the show don't tell principle throughout.
I
didn't expect anyone to comment on my piece and I doubt this entrant to win the contest. However, I think the fact that Mohammad (pbuh) as a "historical figure" is not negotiable.
Saying so, I still appreciate your honest comment Keith.
I am sorry
I was heavy handed in a totally uncalled for way. Let us all have our own beliefs (and unbelief, in the case of atheists) and be willing to show not merely tolerance but support for the other person's right to think differently.
Mohammad...
is undoubtedly a historical figure that changed everything about how the world views itself. Unlike Jesus (of which there is no concrete proof of his existence), Mohammad was a real figure in history with undeniable proof of his presence. It is not about faith at all. It is history.
Enter it Rula.
No proof
but evidence in the form of a mention by Josephus and some gospel fragments that go right back to a time when many reading them would be eye witnesses of the events, ie, within forty years of his death.
Thank you
Sir, I had entered it anyway and I am really thankful. In another note I have to say that as mentioned in the holy Qura'an Jesus (Isa) is another great prophet. As a muslim I believe that he is the "word of Allah" and a prophet who is sent to his people with the holy Bible.
Oh Rula
I really wanted to leave off after my last comment but,
"a prophet who is sent to his people with the holy Bible"
and yet you dismiss that very Bible with the simple claim that somewhere in undocumented history it was distorted somehow. It is the same with Mormons, they don't actually dismiss the Bible but refer only to The Book of Mormon in all their discussions.
I
doubt this debate to be of any use at the end. However, as a muslim I am ordered to believe in Isa as well as the Bible that is sent from Allah as well as All the other holy books sent from Allah
And it is all written in the Quran Kaith. It is not my claim.
Rula
A good write and to the point,
It matters not who believes what or when,
We write poetry to describe things and feelings and this is poetry,
Take care young lady,
Yours Ian.. xx
Thank you
dear Ian. I am not sure how I missed your kind comment the first time. Appreciate it highly.
I have read the Qua'ran.
The language is beautiful. I wish I could read it in Arabic.
I don't know what Jesus is. I talk to the Essence (which is what I call Him in my epic). Jehovah, Allah, these are names for a sense of power. Power that is granted to me.
Tell me more about Jesus. Have you read the New testament?
What does it mean to Islam?
I haven't read the testament
because it's (distorted) not the original book that is sent by Allah (God) to Isa.
As mentioned in the holy Qura'an, Isa is a prophet and he is a miracle because he (the son of Maryam) was not the result of any kind of marriage. He has no father. Allah privileged Maryam with this carriage. He (Allah) wanted this pregnancy to be and so it become. But unlike what Christians believe that Isa ( Jesus) is a god himself, Islam believes in him as one of the many prophets.
Hope this gives a good idea and urges for more research for more specific details sir.
Short question
How could Allah not protect his revelations from distortion?
The original
is somewhere protected, but not what is between our hands nowadays.
I only read about half way
through the Quran but the amount of repetition always referring back to Abraham was enough to put me off finishing it. I kept thinking I have read all this before, what's the point. By the way, that is also true of The Book of Mormon but I started that first and used up all my willingness to read through repetition for a second time. At least with the Iliad the count of all the boatloads of Greeks lasted only about fifty pages.
PS: I should mention that all of this reading, Quran, Book of Mormon, Bible, works of Von Daniken and The Spaceships of Ezekiel – by Josef F. Blumrich took place long before I became a Christian.
Keith
I know you are an enlightened poet. I always felt it. I know you'll find an answer for all the queries.
Never give up searching for the truth.
One thing I won't give up
defending your right to a different belief or opinion than my own. You have always my deepest respect.

To all
Any poem about religion is bound to cause a bit of controversy on an international site.I am pleased that this debate has been civil in nature when it could have easily devolved into a lot worse....stan
