Immortal Overlooking The World

Standing on a peak
Of the highest mountain,
I sigh.
What enigma is there to witness
If I once played a part?

Donning a white robe with a hair unbound,
I am now a blooming lotus atop the mire.
I see the world with no disdain;
Its enigma interests me not.

Wine is sweet. Life is bitter.
I'd rather be drunk than sober.
Time is fleeting. Youth is but a flower.
Why live in such condition
If I can be wild and untethered?

Since love is a dream
And all songs have to end,
Let me sing freely
And dream not.
After a song ends,
Let me sing another one
Until allĀ  love songs in the mortal realm
Are sung.

I will watch all plays unfold
And none will pale in comparison
For they are solely for my entertainment.
Life tragic or sweet,
A love unfulfilled or lasting,
A dream attainable or not -
With calm eyes,
I will watch until the very end
And be a spectator behind a noisy crowd.

The eyes are for the plays,
Nose for the scent of spring,
Skin for the coolness of water,
Ears to listen to the earth's tunes,
Hands to hold the wine cup,
Mouth that merrily sings,
And tongue to savor the flavors -
These are the raison d'etre
Of this vessel.

From atop this mountain,
I will witness the changes
And the ebbs of time
Until everything is buried in oblivion
And eternity is no more.
Before that time comes,
I will live an idle life-
Free from worldliness;
Only living for pleasure.
