I CAN...

I CAN… [Random poem challenge # 6]

I can decide not to be joined to any religion in this country
Yet, I can make heaven
Does heaven require a religious identity or tribal mark?
I can assure you, even the angels by divine order knew
We are ordained a republic since inception

I can decide not to be a Christian or muslim yet I can become
A saint in my father’s house
Does violence make you a super man? Does incessant killing promote your belief in your worship?
Your conscience is a true proof we’re but a true sons of God
Do not judge me or kill me ’cause I wear the three colors of my nation
History is my witness, the scripture is my mirror
Even when I fall apart, His word would restore me

I can definitely choose to be a separatist in this life
Like mazi nnamdi kanu
No matter who governs the seat of power
No matter your lethal invasion in Afaraugwu
I can decide to defy the federal order
Even though I’m brought to justice for prosecution or secret trial
I do not give up ’cause my conscience satisfies me
My conscience is my weapon

I can be free ’cause it’s only liberty that sets you free
No matter the fiery darts of witch hunting
No matter all these fierce proscription against me and my people
I can get to my destination not by dialogue or a suggestion
The South East my ancestral home is my possession and our possession

Geezer

a really religious man myself, the content kind of goes over my head, but I will say that you have presented us with a thoughtful "I can" poem. ~ Geezer.

The internal struggle to be free
Free to think as needed
Free to lead
If leading others comes,
It will be by example, not politics

This piece signals the determination of the soul to manifest.
