A haunted house not far from me
My ears pricked up at that!
I went down to look, at the sight
Wore my coolest leather hat
Fist raised to knock upon the door
My knuckles poised to rap
The door creaked slowly open wide
I had no doubt it was a trap!
But the "Magic" mushrooms that I ate
Were holding up just fine
If this were, my last day on Earth
I guess I wouldn't mind
The Wicked Witch had tea all set
And in the shadows something scary
Her servant, I supposed it was
But so many teeth and really hairy!
We had spider soup and some lady's fingers
Death From Chocolate Cake
Fried and scrambled monkey brains
Such Food, for badness sake!
She had some righteous Moonshine
Brewed by the light of the moon
We played the classics, "The Zombie Shuffle"
And the Scariest Sixties tunes
Ah man, I hate to say it!
The Sun's about rise
I wish I could stay longer
But, I don't think that is wise
I'll just be strolling home now
Yes, I'll take a doggy-bag
You are the perfect hostess
Saw her servant's tail begin to wag
So, down the road I went
Back to my castle-deep
I was looking out for preachers
'Cause my head I want to keep
It was a real long night
I popped into my bed
I pulled the shades down closely
My eyes were burning red
Thank the Saints of Halloween
This vampire stuff's okay
I love summer nights and bloody moons
But, I'm glad for shorter days

Hi
Aside from the challenge this was fun to read....just another day in the death of a vampire lol
Thanks...
I have tried to show that if you think about it, you can make almost any title a line and vice versa. Glad that you enjoyed the little tea-party. He's not dead yet, [well, he's undead, if that makes a difference?] I hope to see your entry in the Halloween contest, I'm starting mine today! ~ Geez.

Vampires?
I was hoping for something a bit more ghoulish with a lot of BLOOD!
Haven't been...
myself lately, maybe Covid but certainly something very nasty, so not in best form. I promise that if you hang around long enough, you will get your wish. ~ Geezer.

Would have been great to hear
Would have been great to hear, Vincent Price's. rendition of this in a hammer horror style!
Liked very muchly, Obi.
One of my first...
heroes of oration! I am surprised that anyone thinks of Vincent Price anymore. His mellow voice, and slow, almost oily delivery, made him one of the most sought after orators. Yes, I would have loved to heard him do some of my works! Thank you. ~ Geez.
