Fragility of Life

Brought home to me again
Another friend leaving without saying goodbye.
In the confusion I try to remember their names.
As I cant fathom why?

"Roy" from next door the salt of the Earth,
He left alone to journey on,
Though remembered in all the things he shared.
Captured pieces he gave without care

"Jim" an engineer friend.
I see his work each day,
A gift of the Bounty made with the love of making.
It sits there as a tribute to his way.

"Stuart" who left just yesterday,
Freed from his wheelchair after 50 years,
Thrown from a horse in yesteryear
Though his loving wife will shed many tears.

Brothers three are all now gone
Time waits for no man as we journey on.
Sisters three join the journeys sway
We will all meet again I truthfully say.

Even Simon my Sisters child who we adored
Left us here as illness struck him down
At forty a life cut short by being ill.
We loved him still

Is it because I have grown old
Or that their departure was foretold
I wish someone would let me know
Before I myself will need to go.

I'm sorry for your recent lose(s) as well as for the older ones. Each has aplace in your heart and his or her absence must be a grief, but you are one of the best who knows anout this going on journey. Your poem though not without much grief, must be of great help for those who lost there beloveds as well.
Thank you for sharing my friend.

I am sorry for not talking before
I have seen your Poems and have read them all.
Not sure how to be sad anymore..
I know where the journey takes our Spirit
so I just accept that their tasks are completed
Sounds strange but some of them never go far away..
As I have always said they are but a thought away..
Hope you are well and your family,
Give them my love as always,
Yours Ian xx

that "We who journey on
cannot tell when
we again will meet those
who have gone before,
but have faith that we will".

Thank you for sharing Ian.

Many thanks for your visit,
One place in the future of all things
we might meet and swap stories.
All we can do is our best here.
Take care young un,
Yours Ian ..

Lovely, thoughtful tribute, (Ian?)
I knew a, Jim. just like this one.

I think the piece could have finished after the fifth stanza and been slightly tighter mate.

Just a write as this time here dictates.
As a poem it may have been short but not a write I normally do.
Sudden loss dictated the words.
Thanks for your visit.
Take care and know we walk the same pathway,
Yours Ian ..
