Like a tool I’ve lost, or loaned to someone maybe,
in my mind there never seems to be just the one I need
to fix the fissures and hollows that sometimes consume my attention
in this broken-down palace of you no longer here

Thank you for the kind words
Thank you for the kind words Mark! Attitude definitely plays a part, but sometimes the grief can overwhelm the best of tools my friend. ; - )

Succinct and to a point!!!
I respect your writing the short, and powerful poem. I admire a short piece that works. Seems that I cannot write a short piece like that (well).
Nicely done.
did you know that there is an old Beatles song by the same name?

I think it is a 1967 release…. From a masterful album: “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”
Thank you Ray! Really
Thank you Ray! Really appreciate your visits and sharing your thoughts - glad you liked this one.
I struggle reading poems that are too cryptic or needlessly wordy (could also be that I'm not smart enough to understand them, I suppose) I think I mentioned this before, but many of my short poems start out MUCH longer. I enjoy the task of distilling them down to extract a clarity of theme I'm looking for. This is often a challenge because we all like our words, and we can be reluctant to place them aside to achieve a goal of a clear message, artfully executed, and one a reader can relate to. Sometimes I get there, and many times, well... Not sure if that makes sense, but that's what's going on inside my brain when I write short poems.
I am aware of the the song by the Beatles of the same name. Hopefully Sir Paul won't mind my small bit of plagiarism - LOL!
