...............Haiku series
Early this morning
all the trees were gray and bare
now pale green explodes
Dogwoods bursting white
wisteria lavender
yellow bells fading
Birds serenading
from goose honks to mocking birds
preparing their nests
Lawn looking ragged
winter fields hoisting green heads
soon all to be cut
All flat surfaces
now taking on a green tint
as pollen thickens
Signs of early spring
suddenly are all around
as the weather warms
.............Western Classic
When the sun first rose this morning
all the limbs were gray and bare
now they've exploded without warning
pale green appearing everywhere
Dogwood blossoms have burst white
and wisteria drapes trees lavender
all the blossoms new and bright
due to last night's gentle shower
Birds are all about the glade
singing notes from tenor to bass
in an avian serenade
weaving their nests of twig and grass
Neighborhood fields and lawns
look uneven from too fast growth
won't be very many dawns
until the mowers even both
Everything that has a roof
taking on a greenish tint
even backs on bovine hoof
are covered with the pollen's lint
All the signs that now appear
within the space of one short day
reveal that spring is finally here
and that it is here to stay
................Free Verse
The clear light of dawn
gave no hint of coming burst
of pale green leaves
on formerly bare limbs
The dogwood and wisteria buds
both bloated and tense
exploded with white and lavender blooms
by end of day
the birds, however, started
at break of day
a symphony of avian song
as they prepared nests
and courted mates
Dormant lawns and fields
suddenly raise uneven stalks
of grass and grain heads
soon to be mowed
but for now they remain green
as green as the pollen
which tints all surfaces
alive or not
with olive lint
Seemingly in one short day
winter has released its grip
to pass the seasonal baton
to spring

hi
once written in one form,it really wasn't that hard to convert to others. Now as to whether the conversions were done well, that's another story lol. Thanks for the visit.....................stan
hi Shirly
I hope you and others don't feel I want you to pick a favorite. I just wrote this to encourage others to try a form new to them by showing the same message can be delivered in different forms. Glad you enjoyed the Haiku series.........................stan
