Every Emotion

Like the laws of gravity,

The pull of planets
Around a sun,
The rush of water
Over a precipice:

We are meant to live
A life of
Every emotion.

If we numb ourselves
By day,
Avoid conversation,
Control our environments,
Or choose not to choose
Any type
Of adventure,

Our dreams at night
Betray us
In multicolor.

Even if it is grey scale,
The feelings
Are hardly muted.

Strangers and friends
Co-mingle,

Murder and love,
Embarrassment and pride,
Desire
And even the desire for no desire.

To some
Dreamland
Is where we escape
On the backs
Of unicorns
Or fly amongst the stars.

But to most,
It brings us closer
To the life
Our hearts know
We must live
On earth.

It is a play
Within a play.

Because we are all players
Of dreamlike proportions,

However small
Or strange
Or insignificant
We feel

In our
Waking hours.

... a pity no one bothered comment earlier. If someone had done so, the author might have stayed a member.
