Humor In Poetry

Dr.No (for humor WS)

Fairy Tales ain't my cup of tea
Chrys n Anne why can't you see
If a tumble I take in your shop
you'll need to gimme a little prop

I will mess up Jack with Jay kill
and Hyde him from the devil
till Alice sleeps well at her home
to wake up in Sherlock's Holm

Laurel hardly stirred my muse
Hardy always made me confuse
by the time if ever I got it right
humor was lost in my plight

Humor me pals, is all i can say
get those fairies out of my way
they're too pretty but what's the use
when I'm lonely they gimme the blues

I asked a Fairy to tell me a tale
she softly whispered "go to hell"
"to hell with you" I gave her a snub
and got on a ferry to my favorite pub

You know what I mean Chrys and Ann
I am Dr.No of the humor clan
No Jack or Jill can make me laugh
unless they let out a mighty fart

Don't pinch your nose or hold your breath
for all smells good in a fairy tale
so if Jack n Jill happen your way
it's not gonna be your dooms day

Forgive me folks if i made you laugh
with this rag of a poem not a funny gag
I know I'm not supposed to be bright
to get humor in poetry absolutely right

About This Poem

Last Few Words: Chrys and Ann are just imaginary characters in this piece. Resemblance to any persons is purely coincidental, not necessarily intentional.

Raj, this was absolutely fantastic. I love how you incorporated all the characters. I am not one for fairy tales, hence why I twist them around and I thought this was brilliant. Very funny and fit well together. Great job.

Thanks for the visit to this muse and hope your comments don't get me Carried away. Good to know you found it funtastic, it surprised me how it burped out cuz I am not at all familiar with Fairy Tales and its characters. However I thought I will give it a go and see if I can do some justice having registered myself as a participant and to save me from the shit Chrys and Judyann may gimme if I didn't attempt ...lol...

You did great!!! My fairy tale stuff usually comes out really darky and scary, really offends some of the believers so I am careful when I use them now. Cant wait to see what you do next.

Who said humor isn't dark. So get your humor stuff outta the dark alley. It's never too late to laugh, in fact me thinks it's good to laugh when it's dark, to scare the ghosts and Nevermores...lol...

I did a poem called Fairy Tale Slayer. It is a realistic take on Fairy Tales, from my perspective. I changed Little Red Riding Hood to Black Riding Hood and it was told from her point of view. The believers were quite shocked. My ex fiancé, who hates poetry, said that was one of the best he had heard. LOL.

Barbara Writes

I'm not into fairytale either so I took some ideas from Carrie twist in characters. It was easy to write after I got the first line down. You got humor there.

China Blue

This is brilliant it got a good hearty laugh from me
and you said you couldn't do it

I'm proud of you for trying something totally foreign to you
And even more proud that you achieved the goal with flying colours xxx

I especially love stanza 5 lol

were a bit forced, but it's all for slap dash fun anyway.
Now, the word play... that was a kick.
